Journey Into BLUORNG’s New Cave-Inspired Retail Space
Following the successful openings of its flagship store in Delhi and a minimalist offshoot in Ahmedabad, Indian streetwear brand BLUORNG is now set to launch its latest retail space in Gurgaon. Designed by architecture studio Metanoia Designs, the new store builds on the brand’s evolving architectural language, offering an immersive and sculptural experience that draws inspiration from the natural contours of a cave.
The initial plan was to replicate the structured layout used in the Ahmedabad store, composed of orthogonal lines and compositionally arranged walls. However, considering the new location within a mall setting, the team reconsidered this approach. “We realized that within a mall, visual impact and spatial recall are essential. We needed a design that stood out and invited people in,” says Shivangi Sharma, principal designer at Metanoia Designs. “That led us back to our earliest concept—a cave. This time, we committed fully to the idea.”

The space features undulating walls and curved recesses, forming a fluid interior that mimics organic landforms. Products are displayed within these recesses, allowing them to integrate seamlessly into the architecture without disrupting circulation or line of sight. A sculptural column anchors the central space, acting as both an architectural pivot and a visual landmark.
“There was an understanding between the two of us, Prakhar [Jain] and Metanoia Designs were willing to execute something fresh,” says Siddhant Sabharwal, co-founder of BLUORNG. “They showed a great deal of trust; you have to believe in the brand’s growth. They genuinely took an interest in the product.”
A Sculptural Sanctuary of Style

“We wanted to stand out by saying we are so muted,” adds Mokam Singh, cofounder of BLUORNG, “not utilizing the space to its best like everyone else—it was a deliberate break from the visual chaos of the mall.”
The process involved extensive digital modelling, using intuitive extrusion and form manipulation techniques. The goal was to maintain a sense of natural randomness, which the team achieved through trial and refinement, arriving at a form that felt simultaneously raw and composed.

Materiality, as with all BLUORNG stores, plays a central role. The palette remains minimal: micro-concrete surfaces and a few lighting elements. These materials were chosen not only for their aesthetic cohesion but also for their reliability. “Across all our stores, we’ve tested over hundreds of materials, but we now rely on just three or four we know will deliver the finish and durability we expect,” says Prakhar Jain, Principal Designer at Metanoia Designs.
A key feature of the Gurgaon store is BLUORNG’s iconic logo, transformed into a metallic art object. Created in collaboration with Nitush-Aroosh, a Delhi-based contemporary functional art duo, the logo has been reimagined in beaten steel and installed prominently within the space. It serves both as an installation and a future collectible, reinforcing the brand’s vision of design as cultural expression.

While the organic form of the store suggests complexity, the design team noted that the spatial planning was less technically demanding than their previous Delhi and Ahmedabad projects. However, achieving a minimalist and sculptural result on a limited budget posed its own challenges. “Minimalism, when done properly, is unforgiving,” said Jain. “With fewer elements, every detail matters.”
The Gurgaon store is scheduled to open this season. With this space, BLUORNG and Metanoia Designs continue to push the boundaries between fashion, architecture, and artistic storytelling—offering a retail experience that is as thoughtful as it is visually compelling.
